Welcome to Westview Elementary!

Welcome to Westview Elementary!

Dear Westview Parents,

Welcome back for the 2017-18 school year! If you are new to our school, you will find that Westview is a warm, close-knit family of students, staff and parents where we put students first in everything we do.  With approximately 550 students, we do our best in keeping class sizes low. Our teachers consider Westview students to be “theirs”. As a school family we come together for several school-wide events throughout the year, to celebrate learning and support our school with positive relationships between staff and parents. Please keep a watch out for our district and school calendar for these events.

This is my first year as principal at Westview Elementary and with the Excelsior Springs School District.  I taught Special Education in Liberty for 6 years. I then taught 2nd grade for another 2 years with the Lexington School District before becoming the District Literacy Coach and then their Middle School Principal for 5 years, ending my time there as the district's Curriculum and Instruction Director.  Currently I am an adjunct professor for William Woods University and I’m working on my Doctoral Degree. Education is my passion and I am very excited to be back at a building level to continue learning and to be a part of such a wonderful community! I have 3 children. My daughter Brice is 10, my daughter Averi is 7 and my son Ashton is 5.

Jessica Broadbent will serve as our Assistant Principal this upcoming school year. This will be her 7th year at Westview Elementary and 8th year in education. She previously taught 3rd grade and then over the course of the past four years has served as the building Instructional Coach. She is married to Greg Broadbent, who currently teaches 8th grade Social Studies at our Middle School. They have a two year old daughter, Harper. Jessica is very excited to continue working with students and families of Westview Elementary throughout the course of this year and is excited about the great things that are taking place in the Excelsior Springs School District.

If you are a returning family to Westview, I know that change can be hard...there are always questions about what will stay the same, and what will be different.  I have been meeting with teams of teachers and staff members, as well as the parent organization since May to learn about the systems that are in place, and brainstorm some new things we would like to do.  We listen carefully to student input and know that their voice matters!  We have lots of great things planned for Westview this year and hope you will join us in creating an excitement for this upcoming school year.

My door is always open, my phone is available, and I check my email regularly.  Please introduce yourself, and contact me if you need anything!

Educationally yours,

Anneliese Gould, Principal

Jessica Broadbent, Assistant Principal
